PLANT LIFE: Cycads, ginkos, conifers, ferns and tree ferns.
SEA LIFE: All major invertebrate groups well represented, ammonites and bivalves successful. Marine reptiles, Ichthyosaurs are Plesiosaurs.

The Lower Lias at Saltburn
The tall cliffs at Saltburn-by-the-sea have one of the best sections through the Lower Lias. The whole of the Cleveland Ironstone Formation and the Redcar Mudstone Formation can be seen here. This includes the Ironstone Shales, Pyritous, Siliceous Shales, Late Calcareous Shales, and Early Calcareous Shales.
